San Antonio South Side Women

fling the knives
in jealous furies
at the unfaithful boyfriends
denying such women exist

curse the mothers
who protect
the filthy lies

smear their tears
mascaraed black and raging

and hold the babies
who will love them
in the unconditional way
which their
boyfriends and husbands
do not
