Touring a Well-Seasoned Woman

Notice the brow
moves toward translucence,
that the eyes telegraph more, oh
much more now that they have
their radiating lines.

See how the light
plays warm on the cheek,
cool in the cliffside of the neck.

On your right is one breast,
on your left, the other.
These have a history of stories:
sighing babes and oblivious lovers.

Now we come to the belly,
all Greek, convexed in marble.
The hips, we see,
are posing for Rubens.

You will observe how the thighs
have stepped delicately
out of their hair,
how the calves stay faithfully
curved on the road
to their twin intentions,

how the feet tell all time and tide.
