Subject: 700 Cats...and Counting

Good morning. For Paws reached a big milestone this weekend with the trap-neuter-return of our 700th cat. Neighborhood mama Princessa and her three teenaged tabbies brought us to this significant achievement. We never could have done it without your support, so 700 thanks to all our For Paws friends!
To get us to 800 cats and beyond, we have a very exciting challenge coming up. Stay tuned.

Subject: Spay Day

Happy Spay Day! In honor of the day, neighborhood cat Beauty and two of her male consorts are "celebrating" at the SpaySA clinic. For more information on this world-wide event, click the link below:

Thanks for your support.

Subject: Adoption Successes

I'm very happy to report that Banshee has been adopted. Now known as Jasper, the handsome black feline is a solo housecat with a couple who adores him. A big thank you to Sherry Wood who arranged this adoption and many others.
Valentina has moved to Floresville with commuter student Angela Marquis and family. Angela saw our For Paws display in the library and inquired if we had any cats available for adoption. Val had just been spayed and was ready for a home of her own. Thanks, Angela.
Sprite came from a managed feral cat colony in the community. An unfortunate encounter with a car resulted in the loss of one eye, but her luck has changed for the better. On her way to being reintegrated into the colony, she's enjoying the good life with Professor Patricia Britton.
As I've said before, it takes a village to rescue cats. Thank you to all the "villagers" who make life better for these creatures in our midst.

Subject: Find Valentina

We have a commuter student who wants to adopt Valentina! But where is the little gray and white cat?
She was seen last night hanging around the entrance of Dougherty. If you locate her, please call the library (436-3430 or 834-8270). Thanks.

Subject: Meet Valentina

A student found this skinny young female outside the AACC Monday night and turned her over to For Paws. Valentina was spayed yesterday and returned to campus this morning. She is the hungriest cat I've seen in a long time.
February is National Prevent a Litter Month, and For Paws has been actively celebrating the month. We've fixed seven cats so far; of the lucky seven, five were females. Valentina is the only campus cat.
Thank you for helping us prevent a litter, one cat at a time.

Subject: Changing Minds, Changing Hearts

Last week Nettie and I spoke to a group of Dougherty residents about For Paws. The students were engaged and attentive, and we had a great time.
At the end, a young woman made these comments: "I don't like cats, and when I first came to St. Mary's, I didn't like to see the cats. But now that I've heard about how For Paws cares about them and does things for them, I've changed my perspective."
This student may never be a 'cat person" like some of us (see photo), but now she sees cats differently. Education works! Thank you for your part in promoting humane education on our campus. And Happy Valentine"s Day.

Subject: Banshee's Good Fortune

Got a friendly, unfixed cat at home? Check out this free special at SpaySA. Their new clinic is located close to campus (5357 W. Commerce), and you can drop off your cat before work (check-in time is 6:30am-8am). Please spread the word. Thanks.

Subject: Banshee Needs a Home

Hello. When you look at this picture, you probably said, "Awww, how cute!" I said, "Oh, no!" We're pushing our luck with Spice in the library; we simply can't have two lounge cats.
If you recall Professor Ozgur Aktunc and fiancee Teri tried to adopt Banshee, and he didn't get along with their resident cats. It may be that Banshee needs to be a solo cat or an indoor/outdoor cat. Please spread the word about this sweet cat before somebody blows the whistle on him and gets us in big trouble. Thanks.
