Subject: They Thought They Knew What They Were doing

At the SNIPSA Big Fix spay-neuter clinics, we've seen people bring cats in open cardboard boxes, pillowcases, birdcages, etc. Saturday was the first time we saw someone bring a cat in an insulated lunch box. The container was virtually air-tight, and the poor cat was gasping by the time the vet was able to safely give it a shot of anesthesia and get it out of the box. All's well that ends well, but remember: A cat is not a baloney sandwich!

Subject: Good Neighbors

Good neighbors near campus are putting the brakes on kitten season by getting female cats fixed through the For Paws program. Bridget and Eleanor are two recent success stories who will never add to the community cat population. We appreciate our responsible neighbors and all of our supporters.

Subject: Meet Queenie

Queenie's had a rough week. After the being caught in a skunk trap, she went in for surgery. The vet discovered, after cutting her open, that she was already spayed. (That's why a small tattoo on the belly or an ear tip are so helpful; unfortunately this vet did not tip her ear---GRRRR.) Queenie is a very friendly cat who probably has a home and hopefully will find her way back to it. Thanks for your support.

Subject: More Successes

Compassionate people continue to make life better for community cats. Gracie found a backyard home with a kind couple who soon discovered she was pregnant. Spaying took care of that situation, and now Gracie won't have to struggle to raise litter after litter of kittens. When Honey joined an apartment complex colony, the sharp-eyed caretaker noticed signs the cat had had a miscarriage. Spaying removed the infected uterus and saved the tortie's life. For Paws is proud to work with these good neighbors who took an extra step to help cats. Thanks for your support.

Subject: Bark In The Park

There are some fun activities for dogs and their people planned tomorrow at Woodlawn Lake. This annual event is sponsored by the San Antonio Area Foundation, an organization that has also been very good to For Paws. Okay, now back to our regular schedule of cat adoration.
