January 2014

Subject: Yearly Update

For Paws had a great year in 2013: 110 community cats sterilized and vaccinated, 21 felines adopted, $1300 raised through our annual cat sock and soap sale ($300 donated to Stray Cat Adoptions of Texas), and continued maintenance of the campus cats. Our thanks to Kay Keane and the Animal Welfare Society for sharing their Petsmart grant; Trish Britton for heroic trapping; Blue Cross Pet Clinic for expert, affordable care; S.C.A.T. for adoption venues; and our enthusiastic volunteers in fundraising and feeding. Finally, a most heart-felt thank you to our compassionate adopters. For a look at some of our 2013 success stories, check out the bulletin board designed and assembled by Stephanie Keys and Sara Kluckhohn, two outstanding animal lovers and library employees. On to 2014!

Subject: Very Cool Cats

Brrrr! Marty, AJ, and Ringo are among the very cold, but well-fed, campus cats who are tired of winter! Everyone is surviving so far, but please send warm thoughts their way—tonight will be the coldest of the season. Thanks for your support.

Subject: Breakfast Buddies

Nothing like cold weather and breakfast to bring outdoor cats together! Tippy and OC are best buds--even in warm weather.

Subject: Devlin & Thomasina

Oldsters Devlin and Thomasina really enjoyed the spring-like weather this weekend after the polar vortex of the previous weekend.

Subject: Skinny...Again

That cat-about-campus Skinny has returned from the Outback where he spent the last six months entertaining students. He’s looking good--not so thin and no fight wounds like he had before he was neutered. However, like the cat in Rudyard Kipling’s story, Skinny is still “the cat who walked by himself" and is very likely to wander away again. Some cat are just like that. Thanks for supporting the friendlies, the ferals, and everyone in between.
