Subject: Rare Sightings

One campus cat few people see is Rainbow, mother of the famous St. Louis Hall kittens of a few years ago. She leans to the feral side and avoids humans and other cats. Her kittens were all adopted and are super friendly; fostering makes all the difference.

Subject: Doing Good in the 'Hood

We're back to trapping in the neighborhood and this week have done five females, including this little mama. She and her kittens live on a front porch on a busy street, but they have a kind woman who supplies food and fresh water. The kittens are too small for surgery (and we have no foster spots open), so we'll say a little prayer for them and check back in about a month. Thanks for your support.

Subject: Still Trying to Find Spice

In response to your suggestions and ideas, we've taken additional steps to locate Spice: registering with Pet Harbor (lost animal service used by Animal Care Services), Craig's List (cash reward), MySA.com (cash reward), Sapets.com, Humane Society, and Animal Defense League.
The attached photo was sent to the above sites; please share if you know of other resources. Spice is 4 years old, weighs 12 pounds, is neutered, has an ear tip, and microchip. He has scars on his belly from surgery. Thanks.

Subject: Spice Update

We had hoped that Spice would reappear after finals, but no such luck. So I guess we have to wipe away our tears and put our energy into caring for all the other cats who need help. Thank you all for your prayers, concern, and encouragement.

Subject: Cash Reward for Spice?
Several people have suggested offering a reward for the safe return of Spice and even offered donations. Thanks to the Tanuja Challenge, For Paws has money. My only concern is that this would just encourage some of our less evolved citizens to catnab for cash. What do y'all think?

Subject: Where's Spice?

Spice hasn't been seen since Tuesday night; if he were dead, we'd know it by now. So it looks like someone took him. Please return him. He belongs to For Paws of St. Mary's University, and this is his home. Thanks.

Subject: More on Precious

I think I scared people off with the description of tortoiseshell cats. Precious is not angry or possessive-just independent and needs time to warm up to people. When she first came to our house, she flinched whenever we tried to pet her as if she'd been hit in the past. Now she purrs and enjoys human contact. Time and patience can mellow tortitude.

Subject: Tortitude

According to Wikipedia, tortoiseshell cats have unique characteristics:
Among cat owners there is considerable talk about tortoiseshell cats having a personality set apart from other colorations. This is referred to as "tortitude". Tortoiseshell cats are said to be strong-willed, fiercely independent, hot-tempered and very possessive of their owners.
Precious, the declawed cat found on campus, needs a home of her own with someone who accepts and appreciates tortitude. Please help us find a special person for this special cat. Thanks for your support.
