Subject: New Cat on Campus

We trapped this young cat in front of Charles Francis today and were surprised to see it is ear-tipped, thus fixed. We have photos of all 820 cats we've trapped, and this isn't one of them. Hmmm…are there roving bands of cat trappers working the neighborhood? I wish!

Subject: Another Fixed Kitten

Here is the ear-tipped, fixed sibling of yesterday's mystery kitten. Unfortunately, it looks like someone got them fixed and then dumped them on campus. Dumping is illegal, of course, and this kind of irresponsible behavior threatens the For Paws program: we must not become the depository for unwanted felines—fixed or not. These kittens appeared at a feeding station not maintained by For Paws, and yet we'll be blamed if someone complains about the growing cat population. (There is an adult orange and white cat there as well.) Please report animal dumping and support responsible Trap-Neuter-Return. Thanks.

Subject: Hallie Has a Home!

Hallie has been adopted by a long-time For Paws friend (and adopter) and is now settling into her new home. The petite calico was rescued on campus by a caring student and spent three weeks in foster care where she was the perfect guest. Thanks for your support.

Subject: Tippy & Tyler

Tippy & Tyler, the two pre-fixed kittens dumped on campus, are not truly feral but not “pettable” friendly either. They've moved in on Buckie's feeding station, so we're giving them a little breakfast to tide them over until Buckie's feeder arrives. No cat goes hungry on this campus! Thanks for your support.

Subject: QT Gets a Home

QT was rescued in the Outback by students about a month ago and was lovingly fostered by Joe and Nettie. Thanks to the efforts of registrar Christina Villanueva, QT has moved to Floresville where she'll share the good life with a nice couple and an orange tabby cat. Thanks, Christina!

Subject: We're in the 365 Cats Page-a-Day Calendar!

One more reason to buy Workman Publishing's most popular Page-a-Day Calendar: Four of For Paws' finest are featured! Shown from left to right are Sparky (San Antonio Humane Society), Max (former employee Sylvia Saenz), Buttercup (BGSB Dean Tanuja Singh), and Crypto (alumna Samantha Franklin and husband Justin Seals). Dougherty students rescued these kittens, and other For Paws supporters provided fostering and veterinary care until the kittens were ready for their forever homes. Thanks for your support.

Subject: Meet Deana

Deana was rescued from the enclosed “pit” outside the Chaminade Garden Room. We don't know if she jumped in, slipped, or was intentionally dropped in, but Dean Tanuja Singh spotted her and called for help. It took a team of four with a ladder to get her out. Deana was spayed yesterday and will need to be returned to campus soon, but she is sweet, affectionate, and clearly belongs in a home of her own. Please spread the word about this two-year-old, eight-pound tortie. Thanks for your support.

Subject: Deana Update

In this season of thanksgiving, I'm very thankful to the Humane Society for taking Deana into their no-kill adoption program! The Humane Society has been a wonderful friend to For Paws.

Subject: Campus Kittens

Here's a little kitten cuteness to brighten your day. Bootsy and Marty are two unrelated feral kittens we found and fixed on campus. While we wish we could have tamed them and gotten them adopted, we're glad they have each other to hang out with.

Subject: AJ Update

AJ, the shy gray and white cat often seen in the Quad, got jumped by Away this week and has a hurt paw. We took her to the vet for a steroid shot for pain and a long-lasting antibiotic shot for infection. She's already stopped limping! We're grateful for good meds and the kind people who alerted us to AJ's plight: math prof Jason Shaw and the unnamed math student who took the time to notify us about AJ. Thanks for your support.
