Bureau of Justice Statistics Publications Collection CD-ROM. J 29.14/3:. 2003. This CD should run upon insertion in the drive. If it does not, open the file CONTENTS.HTM in any web browser. The CD contains files in PDF, text and some other formats.
Career Resource Centers. J 16.102:C 18/CD. Note: This set of CDs is shelved in the documents stacks. The disks run upon insertion; some discs require the installation of special programs.
Child Protection in Families Experiencing Domestic Violence. HE 25.2:C 43/CD. The CD contains one large PDF file.
Conflict Resolution for School Personnel. J 28.31: SCH 1. This CD requires special software be installed and thus cannot be previewed on the computers near the Reference Desk.
Crime in the United States (Uniform Crime Reports) J 1.14/7-8:995-2004. 1995-2004 editions are all on the same CD. To use the CD, open the file WELCOME.PDF in Adobe Acrobate. Paper copies for these and earlier years (back to 1960) are in Documents Stacks at J 1.14/7: . This data is also available on the Web at the FBI's site.
DNA Grantees' Workshop. J 28.31:D 44. To use the CD on computers near the Reference Desk, Adobe Acrobat icon and open the file DNA-Main.pdf. A printable file of the entire workshop (120 pp.) is available as DNA-PrintDoc.pdf.
Domestic Violence by Police Officers. J 1.14/23: D 71. To use the CD on computers near the Reference Desk, click on the Adobe Acrobat icon and open the file WELCOME.PDF.
Emergency Resonder Chemical and Biological Equipment Guides and Database. J 28.31:C 41. This CD begins an installation upon insertion in the CD drive. Please do not use this CD on computers near the Reference Desk.
Federal Justice Statistics Program. J 29.30:995, 997, 998 . This CD may not be previewed on the computers near the Reference Desk; it requires special software. An ASCII text file, WELCOME.TXT, explains the installation procedure for this software.
Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). T 1.66:F 49. This CD should run upon insertion into the drive. If it does not, click "FinCEN" in "My Computer" under the CD drive letter.
It Adds Up: the unique and challenging role of an IRS Criminal INvestigation Special Agent. T 22.69:C 18. This DVD movie will play with a media player.
Juvenile Offenders and Victims. J 32.23:J 28. The material on this CD is in Adobe Acrobat format and may be viewed on the computers near the Reference Desk by clicking on the Acrobat icon and opening the file NR99HOME.PDF. There is a paper copy of this report in the Documents stacks at J 32.21:J 98.
National Corrections Reporting Program, 1996, 1998. J 29.11/13-2: . This CD cannot by used on computers near the Reference Desk; it requires special data manipulation software. There are .TXT and PDF files on the CD which describe the software required, and there is some information in the booklet which is shelved with the CD.
National Criminal Justice Reference Service Document Data Base. J 28.31/2: . Database of citations and abstracts of criminal justice publications. It may not be previewed on the computers near the Reference Desk since it requires special software. It is searchable on the Web through the agency's website.
Offender Employment Specialist: Building Bridges. J 1.100:OF 2/DVD/CD. This multi-disk title runs with the default media player upon insertion in the drive. The disks are shelved in the documents stacks.
Principles of Forensic DNA for Officers of the Court. PR 43.8:D 44/F 76/CD. CD should run upon insertion into the drive. If it does not, open the file index.html in any web browser.
Sourcebook of Criminal Justice Statistics, 1994-2002 editions are all on the same CD. To use it, open the file WELCOME.PDF in Adobe Acrobat. Paper versions are in Reference Collection: HV 7245 .N37, along with earlier years of the title.
State Court Processing Statistics (SCPS) Program, 1990-98. J 29.29:C83. The files on this CD include data in an SPSS file, the same data in fixed ASCII format, and some reports in PDF. The PDF files may be viewed on the Reserve CDs Workstation by opening them in Adobe Acrobat. The other files cannot be previewed on the workstation.
Supervising Child Protective Services Caseworkers. HE 25.2:C 43/3/CD. This CD requires various special types of software and may not be previewed on the workstation. There is a manual in PDF format, however.
Violence on the Job. HE 20.7129:V 81/DVD. This DVD cannot be viewed on computers without special DVD software. It is shelved in the documents stacks under the call number and may be checked out for regular, non-Reserve loan periods.
Workplace Violence; issues in response. J 1.14/23:W 89/CORR. The CD may be viewed at the Library workstations. Open the file WELCOME.PDF in Adobe Acrobat.
NOTE: These CDs may only be checked out by St. Mary's users (or by other college students/faculty/staff with a Texshare card) or by special arrangement with the Documents Librarian. The CDs have been tested only minimally by the Library staff, and we cannot provide technical support in their use. The Reference Librarians can help you find a source for technical support, if that information is not given with the CD, or contact the Documents Librarian for further information.
These CDs are kept in the office, in filing cabinets in the Documents area, filed by Superintent of Documents classification number (given with each title). You might not be able to check out a CD if you come to the library in the evening or on a weekend when the Documents Librarian is not in. If you need to use a CD the best thing to do is to contact the Documents Librarian in advance and the CD can be left at the Reference Desk for you to check out.
