Government Jobs Databases

GPO Access

NOTE: These are links to only a selected number of government jobs databases that are available on the Web. The only databases included are those which are considered substantial research sources; almost all have some kind of search capability unless otherwise noted. Consult links on the Government Information Home Page for additional sources of electronic government information.

CRS Reports. These research reports by the staff of the Congressional Research Service cover all subject areas and are excellent overviews. Unfortunately there is not an official government site which offers access to the entire collection. But there are several different institutions and individuals who are working to make these valuable resources available:

Davis-Bacon Wage Determinations. This database contains the wages being paid by federally sponsored construction projects. You may browse the determinations by state or see the ones most recently modified. This database is a good source of information on prevailing wages in construction trades and occupations in different localities.

Occupational Employment and Wage Estimates. Gives annual and hourly wage estimates for different classes of jobs in metropolitan areas as well as nationally. From the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

ONet. This database from the Labor Dept. replaces their Dictionary of Occupational Titles and gives information on job and worker characteristics.

USA Jobs. Daily updates of federal job listings as well as other kinds of information of interest to persons seeking government employment. There's even an online application form.
