Another new volume in the Smithsonian Institution's Handbook of North American Indians series has arrived at the Blume Library. It is volume 12, "Plateau." It covers tribes living in the region of the northwestern U.S. and southwestern Canada between the Rocky Mountains and the coastal ranges. These include the Kootenai, Coeur d'Alene and Nez Perce tribes. The volume has sections on pre-history, history, individual tribes, and special topics (religions, art, family structure, recreation, mythology, etc.).
