New Volume in Handbook of North American Indians (SI 1.20/2: 13)

Another new volume in the Smithsonian Institution's Handbook of North American Indians series has arrived at the Library. It is volume 13, "Plains," and it comes in two parts. Part one has sections on pre-historical and historical periods, and a section on individual prairie tribes such as the Osage and Pawnee. The first part (through page 676) of the section on high plains tribes, including the Assiniboine, Blackfeet and others concludes the first part. The high plains section continues in part two, with tribes such as the Kiowa, Comanche and Sioux.
