Attendance: John Barnett, Dorothy Blow, Darcy Del Bosque, Camille Fiorillo, Amory Irby, Michael Kaminski, Ben Longoria, Tina Petimezas, Azucena Rodriguez-Guerra, and Kathy Amen.
Michael and Kathy gave a report on the Federal Depository Library Conference held last month in Reno. Our full report is online here. Let Kathy know if you want copies of any of the handouts mentioned in the report.
Other announcements:
SAPL will be consolidating their reference service desks due to not being able to fill vacant positions. The Periodicals and Fiction desks will be closed, but there will still be at least one service point on each floor.
Palo Alto has lost some office space to administration while that building is being treated for mold.
UTSA is working on a web page redesign; one of the new features will be easy access to Serials Solutions for finding periodicals. John says they hope to have a "soft opening" for the pages this summer.
UTSA also has been mounting some good exhibits; the current one is on recycling and Darcy incorporated several Texas and U.S. docs. Dorothy reported that SAPL's current display is about Iraq. Both libraries were encouraged to submit their display bibliographies to GODORT's Display Clearinghouse.
SAC's newsletter, Library Soup, is still going strong, and has even accumulated an archive. The current issue can be found here. If you haven't seen this before, take a look, it's very clever and well-done.
If you want GPO to send you a statistical report on how many times their documents are accessed from your domain, fill in the form at the bottom of the Depository Library profile page. This was mentioned during the GPO Update portion of the meeting in Reno.
Our next meeting will be September 12 at UTSA Downtown, at 9 a.m.
Have a great summer, everyone!
Respectfully submitted,
Kathy Amen, Secretary/Treasurer
