Discovering and Managing Older Online Documents

from the 2002 FDLC

A very enthusiastic and hard-working librarian from Denver University, Chris Brown, gave a talk on finding older online documents to add to your catalogs. I was particularly interested in how these documents displayed in his catalog, since he is a III user also. His presentation is at www.du.edu/~cbrown/1.ppt. I missed part of it, but what I saw was very provocative. He showed several examples where GPO's or an aggregator's online holdings of a serial title, for example, were not as extensive as what he was able to find on the agency's website. He was urged to submit the results of his work to GPO so that their records could reflect this additional material as well. So some of his items may be showing up on PURL Alert and Marcive's changed records.
