Federal Depository Library Conference
October
15-17,
2007
Summary
for Documents Users Group
by Kathy Amen and Rita Wilson
NOTE: GPO has published the proceedings, along with podcasts, of this conference. (Look for the "file repository" link.) Since PDFs from most of the presentation are made speedily available, our summaries below contain simply a list of high points from the sessions we attended, with an emphasis on points not covered by the proceedings. Each section of our reviews end with the initials [KA] or [RW]. If you have questions about any of these notes, please contact either Kathy or Rita, depending on who did the reporting.
There were several interesting sessions that we did not attend, so we urge you to look through the proceedings with some care. These are the sessions neither of us attended:
- GPO and Persistent Identification (we missed most of this plenary session because of a late Texas librarians lunch, which involved a long walk back to the conference)
- Creating a local documents networking group (we figured we didn't need to learn about this!)
- Hidden Treasures: Government Publications in the Arts
- New Documents Librarians
- Documents Collection Reviews
- Library Services Open Forum (one of us should have gone to this one; we slipped up here)
- Destruction and Recovery at Tulane
- Persistent Problem Patrons
- Harvesting; Indiana Light Archive
- Council Session: Offering Services 24/7
- Agency Updates
- Consumer Product Safety Commission
- National Institute for Literacy
- Stat-USA
- DHHS
