Showcasing Rare, Valuable and Unusual Documents

from the 2002 FDLC

I attended part of a presentation on showcasing rare, valuable and unusual docments. The speaker, Ann Marie Sanders, from Michigan, had found some really interesting old documents that she says make an impact in her general documents bibligraphic instruction sessions. When she shows students an Army pamphlet illustrated by Dr. Seuss on avoiding insect bites, she says they WILL remember documents! She also had some good tips for identifying valuable documents, some of which can fetch pretty prices in out-of-print catalogs. I have a copy of her handout (in which you can see some of the neat things she has found to use) and a bibliography. Her email is asanders@michigan.gov.
