Digital Opportunity: Strategies for Increasing the Use of Government Documents in an Electronic Environment
Two librarians reported on their library's (Mansfield Univ.) transition from little electronic access to full integration into their catalog. They stressed the larger number of hits on their homepage and database pages than the number of people using their physical building. They also had some pointers for organizing documents web pages.
Univ. of AZ and GPO Pilot Project to Develop of Virtual Depository
I admit to lack of a good understanding of this project. It seems that they are selecting only EL and dual format item numbers. They are keeping track of the titles they put in the catalog to monitor which ones disappear. This increased scrutiny has resulted in finding many "fugtive" electronic publications that GPO is adding to their electronic collection. One of the problems they are dealing with is the difficulty of defining a "publication" in the electronic environment.
