San Antonio College Library

Attendance: John Barnett, Dorothy Blow, Amory Irby, Ben Longoria, Victor Lopez, Tina Petimezas, Christina Ramos, Ruby Wehmeyer, and Kathy Amen.

Most of the meeting was taken up with a discussion led by Kathy about the soon-to-be-revised Texas State Plan for depositories. The notes from the discussion that Kathy passed along to the TLA GODORT committee working on the plan are available here.

Other news, announcements, etc.:

It’s not clear what will happen to microfiche distribution in the next year. GPO says it is phasing MF out by not renewing contracts and plans to make all material that now comes in fiche available online. (Kathy sent an inquiry to AskLPS about this question and received information in response to the effect that the Congressional contracts ARE being renewed, but that GPO will get us more information soon.)

SAPL has a display up on patent information.

SAC finished their monumental weeding project. Probably time to start over again, now, ladies!

St. Mary’s is jumping on the online course bandwagon and has a half dozen or so online courses starting this summer.

Ruby announced that Trinity has hired a new documents librarian. His name is Jeremy Donald, and we hope to meet him at our first fall meeting. (Kathy has put his name and email in our Directory.)

We were all very sorry to hear that John is leaving, taking a job at a small, restful college in Pennsylvania. We will miss you, John! Keep in touch!

Tentative meeting dates and locations for the upcoming year:

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Amen, Secretary/Treasurer
