These pages offer basic information about each state (taken from the World Almanac) and links to pages developed by libraries and other organizations with detailed access to state government web sites. If there is no information given beyond the institution's name, the link will lead to a general state information page. Some specialized types of pages (e.g., "Legal Resources") are so indicated. I've only included pages with a substantial number of links, and/or pages with useful subject groupings or annotations.

The following sites are good places to check when you need information on all the states in a single listing:

Mapstats (Fedstats, a cooperative effort of U.S. government statistical agencies)
State Agency Databases Wiki (sponsored by the American Library Association)

State Legislative History Research Guides and State Legislatures on the Web (Indiana U. Law School Library)

Thanks to the nice folks at GPO Access for sharing the coding for the clickable map above. The maps on the individual states' pages were adapted from those at 50states.com. (This site also includes a wealth of factual information for each state.) The red/white/blue decorative map is used courtesy of www.theodora.com/maps, with permission. Note that these organizations are not in any way responsible for the content of these pages. I would appreciate hearing about any errors that might be contained therein; these errors are mine alone.
