Distance Learning Library Services
Finding Books and E-Books
I encourage St. Mary's distance learning students to use the library's book collection. The library owns approximately 200,000 print books and over 50,000 full-text electronic books (e-books). To locate books on a particular topic, you should search the library's online catalog. Books that the library owns in print will list a physical location. E-books records and records for other online materials will give a URL.
If you find a print book that you would like to borrow, please fill out the online materials request form. Books will be sent via First Class U.S. Mail. You will be responsible for postage to return any books you check out.
E-books offer a fast alternative for distance students who need immediate access to book resources. If you only want to see the library's e-book collection, you can search the following sources:
- NetLibrary
- the library's primary access to e-books; Note: set up an NetLibrary account
- Gale Virtual Reference Library
- provides access to online reference books
- Library Online Catalog
- the library's catalog also includes full-text access to government publications and online books; use the Advanced Search feature and set the Material Type limit to EBOOKS
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about finding books or e-books on your research topics.
