TexShare Cards
What are TexShare cards?
TexShare is a statewide program facilitates resource sharing between public libraries, community colleges, four-year colleges, and universities. TexShare administers the TexShare Card program through which library patrons may check out materials from participating TexShare libraries. Libraries issue TexShare cards to their students, staff, and faculty (or in the case of public libraries, library patrons). However, TexShare cards are only good for a limited time. Faculty, students, and staff must reapply for a new TexShare card each semester.
Where can I get a TexShare card?
The Blume Library issues TexShare cards to St. Mary's students, faculty, and staff. Patrons with valid TexShare cards can borrow books from most Texas college and university libraries and some public libraries. Students taking courses off-campus may mail or fax in the online TexShare application. You can pick up a TexShare card from the Blume Library Circulation desk if you happen to be in San Antonio. You must present your St. Mary's ID to be issued the TexShare card in person.
Where do I return my application?
There are a couple of ways to return your application. Patrons can mail the TexShare application to St. Mary's Blume Library, One Camino Santa Maria, San Antonio, TX 78228 c/o Distance Learning Librarian OR fax the application to (210) 436-3782 c/o Distance Learning Librarian.
When will I get my TexShare card?
Your TexShare card will be sent out as quickly as possible, usually within 1-2 business days. Your card will be sent via first-class US mail.
How do I use my TexShare card?
Once you receive your TexShare card, you can use it to check out materials from participating TexShare libraries. You must present a current TexShare card and an ID (your St. Mary's ID and your driver's license) to the library from which you wish to borrow materials. The Using Other Libraries page lists some TexShare-participating libraries close to St. Mary's off-campus sites (Austin, Corpus Christi, Ft. Hood, Laredo, and Waco).
