Searching the Library Online Catalog

There are many books, both print and electronic, in the library's collection that deal with entrepreneurship. One of the best ways to search the Library Online Catalog is to use the "Advanced Keyword" search. The Advanced Keyword search allows you to search for words in a item's title, subject headings, abstract, table of contents, or any other information provided in the item's record. For example, you could search for books on women as entrepreneurs by using the terms (women and entrepreneurship).

This database includes academic (scholarly) journals, trade (industry-specific) magazines, general business magazines, company profiles, country profiles, and other types of business reference publications.

This site, sponsored by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, provides original articles on entrepreneurship topics and collects links to freely available online resources on entrepreneurship. Content is arranged by three sections: Entrepreneurs' Stories, How To's, and Tools and Templates.

Score: Counselors to America’s Small Business
The Service Corps of Retired Executives supports by offering counseling, information resources, and workshops. The web site includes informative articles, counseling services by email, disaster advice, local chapter locations, and links to calculators, software, business plans, trade shows, and other business resources.

United States Small Business Administration
SBA offers detailed information on starting, financing, and managing a business. Also includes information on local SBA offices, small business statistics, guides to business leads and government contracting, and disaster recovery information.

Statistical information on people, households, and communities that may be searched by zip code, town/city, county, state, etc. Information from the U.S. Census Bureau.

Claritas Market Segment Database
Search by zip code to get free "lifestyle" information such as short description of the lifestyle "groups" in the neighborhood, number of households, household income, lifestyle traits for each group, and demographic characteristics.

Resources at Local Libraries

The San Antonio Public Library offers many resouces for enterpreneurship research including numerous databases. Residents of Bexar County, including students who live in the St. Mary's University Residence Halls, are eligible to sign up for a free public library card. The Memorial Branch is across the street from St. Mary's on Culebra Rd. Anyone with a valid SAPL public library card may access the library's online databases via the Internet using their SAPL library card number.
