The Consumer Expenditure Survey presents information on the buying habits of American consumers. It measures household spending patterns for food, alcoholic beverages, housing, apparel and services, transportation, health care, entertainment, personal care products, reading, education, tobacco products, cash contributions, and insurance. The data on spending patterns is cross-tabulated with household characteristics such as age, race, geographic location, income, and household size.

Provides descriptions of journals that publish articles on a variety of business topics including marketing. Journal descriptions include contact information, publication guidelines, review information, circulation data, and acceptable manuscript topics.

LexisNexis Academic
Marketing articles from business newspapers, newswires, and trade magazines can be found in the "Business" subfile under "Business News" and "Industry & Market."

Stat-USA/Globus-National Trade Data Bank

Stat-USA is an online service provided by the US Department of Commerce that gives business, economic, and trade data published by the United States government. The Stat-USA site is split into two sections: State of the Nation and Globus/National Trade Data Bank (NTDB). NTDB has several sections of interest to the marketing student, especially those studying international marketing topics. Important sections of NTDB include the International Marketing Insight Reports, Industry Sector Analysis Reports, Best Market Reports, the Country Commercial Guides, and the International Trade Statistics file. The State of the Nation offers statistical information on various aspects of the U.S. economy that may be of interest to marketing researchers.

Access to Stat-USA is restricted to those with a valid password. The Blume Library only has one license to the database. Ask at the Reference Desk for the userid and password or call (210) 436-3508.
