Alice Wright Franzke Feminist AwardNominations ClosedThank you for your interest in the 2009 Alice Wright Franzke Feminist Award! The Alice Wright Franzke Feminist Award was established by the St. Mary’s Women’s Caucus in March 1990 to commemorate the life and works of Alice Franzke, PhD, a professor in the Sociology Department at St. Mary’s University from 1982 until 1989. Dr. Franzke was an inspirational model of feminist activism and civic engagement who embodied a commitment to justice and peace. The award honors feminists of the St. Mary’s University community who promote peace, empowerment, civic engagement, cooperation, equality, and respect of all persons. Eligibility: The members of the 2009 Franzke Feminist Award Selection Committee may not nominate or be nominated for the Franzke award during this selection year. The members of the committee are: Diane Duesterhoeft (faculty), Sonia Garcia (faculty), Jacqueline Dansby (staff) and Vanessa Torres (student). Selection Criteria: Nomination Deadline: The St. Mary's University's Women's History Month website provides additional information about the Franzke award including a list of past recipients.
